Remote for Bye Bye Standby® 2.0
Remote for Bye Bye Standby® is a home automation application for Apple's iPhone, iPod touch and iPad which allows you to control devices within your home that are connected to Bye Bye Standby® sockets, via a Bye Bye Standby® Online Controller (only version 2 of the controller is compatible).
This application allows you to send commands to the online controller when you're connected to the same network via Wi-Fi, or even when you're out and about with a bit of network configuration and access to the Internet from another location*. Groups containing buttons can be added to the application, each of which can control one or more devices using the familiar A-P and 1-16 settings as on your existing Classic remotes. Features (v2.0)
- Send commands to your Bye Bye Standby® Online Controller directly from your iPhone, iPod touch or (as of version 2.0 of the app) iPad
- Control multiple devices with the touch of a single button
- Control your devices when away from home*
- Devices can be added to a button with "Manual", "On" or "Off" actions which allows a button to perform a specific action on a device. Buttons can also have a combination of manual or automatic actions.
- Buttons can be configured to not prompt you to control devices, as long as the button only contains automatic actions.
- Multiple Online Controllers can be configured
- The number of groups is no longer fixed to 6 (you can have more or fewer as you require)
- The number of buttons which can be added to a group is no longer limited to 16
- Buttons can now be dragged to other positions/groups. Touch and hold a button to switch in to edit mode and make it draggable. Touch any part of the background to switch out of edit mode
- A standard set of button icons is now included (see the free home automation icons page)
- Photo button icons can now be added straight from the camera or from the camera roll
- You can now copy all button icons and configuration to another iOS device by using File Sharing from the 'apps' section of iTunes after selecting your iOS device
- Commands are now sent to the Online Controller much more quickly when a button has multiple commands
- The 'Home / Away' button (in version 1.x of the app) is no longer necessary and has been removed as the app can now automatically detect when it's on the same wifi network as your Online Controller.
- New button icons will create a higher resolution version to support Retina displays
* A static I.P. address and an iPhone/iPad Wi-Fi + 3G is recommended if you wish to control your devices when away from home, otherwise you may not be able to send commands to the controller. If you do not have the technical skills to configure your broadband router to forward ports then you are advised to use this application only when connected to your home network via Wi-Fi as no support can be provided on router configuration given that there are so many different makes & models.
