1. How many campsites and caravan parks are listed?
There are over 5300 campsites and caravan parks in the database. We only list sites which have websites so that the details contained in this app can be verified. We're adding new campsites all the time so the database will increase over time.
2. I know of a site that is missing - can it be added?
If you know of a campsite or caravan park which is missing, and it has a website, then e-mail the name of the campsite, postcode and website address to campsites@northwestcode.com and we will look to add it to a future update.
3. I have found a mistake or outdated information
If you see something in the app, such as a campsite which no longer exists or if we're displaying incorrect information then e-mail campsites@northwestcode.com with the name of the campsite, the problem you have found and we will fix the problem in a future update.
4. What's the difference between the red and purple site markers on the map?
The colour of the pin depends on whether you may need to be a member of a club to stay at the site. Red pins indicate a site is open to everyone, purple pins may require a membership.
5. Is there a way to hide sites which require membership?
Some sites require membership of a club to stay. To hide these from the map or the A-Z list, from the main menu, touch the "i" in the top right corner of the screen and deselect the club sites you do not wish to see.
6. How do I add a review for a site?
Firstly, find the site via the map or A-Z list. Then navigate to the details screen and touch the "Reviews" tab. Touch the "Write a review for this site" button, then select a star rating that you feel reflects the site and add write your comments below. Then touch "Send". Your review is then uploaded to be verified before it becomes available to other app users. If you do not have an Internet connection when sending a review, it will automatically be saved and sent the next time your run the app with access to the Internet.
7. How often are new reviews downloaded?
When you run the app and have an Internet connection, new reviews will automatically be downloaded every few days.
8. How to I filter sites by the facilities available?
To filter sites by the facilities available, touch the "Site options" button on the map or A-Z screens, then scroll the list down and touch a facility to toggle it. If no facilities are ticked then all sites will be shown. Please note that other facilities that we do not know about may be available at sites, so the facilities filter should only be used as a guide. If you've been to a site then you can help provide feedback on the facilities available by scrolling to the bottom of the site summary screen. Please note that the facilities are primarily listed for camping and touring caravan sites.
9. How do I search for a site by name?
From the A-Z list you can search for a site by name. Touch the text field and type part, or all of the name of the site, then touch "Search".
10. What happens when I touch the postcode on the site summary screen?
To help you navigate to a site, touching the postcode will ask you which app you would like to launch to help you. The options available depend on the apps you have installed and can be Google Maps or TomTom. Please note that the destination is set to the GPS coordinates for the postcode, so may not be the exact location for the site, but should be in the correct area. Please note that only GPS enabled devices will be able to navigate accurately.
